Just a moment to mention that the FHA Manufactured Housing Loan Modernization Act of 2007 has passed the House of Representatives. It is now in committee with the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Richard Shelby (R-AL) are the ranking members.

Fleetwood reports that it lost 61 cents a share for the quarter and $1.41 a share for the last year. Most of the loss is attributed not to manufactured housing, though, but instead to its travel trailer division. In fact, Fleetwood finds that manufactured home sales are still strong in the Southeastern United States.
The declining sales in travel trailers reflect the one-time jump that occurred after FEMA ordered so many units to take care of households affected by Katrina in 2006.
