Non-Profits on Alert
July 29th, 2010
Recent IRS rules impose additional reporting requirements on small non-profits. Having been in place for several years, those rules are now about to have an impact. Thousands and thousands of small non-profits previously did not have to file financial disclosures. Now they do.
In North Carolina, there are many non-profits in this space. Most are small clubs. Here are some examples:
- American Legion chapters
- Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), Triad Partners
- America Postal Workers Union 2744
- Carolina Tarwheels Cycling Club
- Association of North Carolina Big Brothers Big Sisters Agencies
- Free and Accepted Masons, Mount Mitchell Lodge 652
- International Conference for Itinerant Evangelists
- Kannapolis Intimidators Booster Club
- Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Mu Zeta Chapter
- Mutual Burial Association, Burgaw
- National Association of Letter Carriers, Carrboro
- National Association of Daughters of the American Revolution, Princeton
- Raleigh Civic Ballet
- Road Runners Club of America, Salisbury
- Veterans of Foreign Wars, Highlands
There are only a few examples. The full list for those groups in North Carolina is here. The rule affects non-profits across the country. Be on the lookout in your state!
