I don't think that only HUD- Certified Housing Counselors should be the only ones that actually receive that money. I think that a certified housing counselor that is employed with a nonprofit agency who provides free services to the community for low-to-moderate income families should also benefit and receive some money as well. HUD has too much power over the housing counselors who have worked directly with clients and know firsthand what the needs are in their community. Each community has different needs. The North Carolina State Certified Housing Counselors have all passed the same examinations, both track A & B, and they all should receive some money for services for their communties. North Carolina has 100 counties so why not provide agencies, that do provide those services locally, funds for it. Housing Counselors really love their jobs so it is really not about money. HUD should provide funds for all agencies who have North Carolina State Certified Housing Counselors and not just the agencies that are HUD approved Certified Housing Counselors.
