ACLU: Stop Discrimination in Alabama Park

July 24th, 2007

The ACLU has written a letter to the owners of Wales West RV Park in Silverhill, Alabama asking them to cease the practice of not allowing residents with HIV to use the community pool, showers and other common facilities.

The conflict developed when resident Silvia Glover volunteered to the park manager that her 2-year old foster son had HIV. Caleb wanted to take a ride on the park’s two train rides. Silvia and her husband, Dick, have since decided to move out.

Silverhill is a small community between Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida.
